Analytical paragraph

An analytical paragraph is a form of descriptive writing which is written on the basis of a given chart, graph, data, outline, clues, table etc. It requires analysis and comparison of the given facts and drawing conclusion based on the given data.

Rules for analytical paragraph..

It should be brief; around 120-150 words.
It should be precise and well directed
Clear and crisp language should be implemented
The entire paragraph should be written using a single tense
Personal opinions should not be included in the paragraph
It should clearly portray the stated facts
The use of first-person pronouns should be omitted..

Format of an analytical paragraph

Introduction:This should well direct and explain briefly the principle content that is highlighted in the graph or table. It should be no more than two or three lines. We have to make a trend .. We can use some new words.. Such as : depicts, states, reflects, describes, suggests, shows, provides information, illustrates, express, denotes, demonstrates, puts on light, introduces, flaunts etc

Body:It should be well presented
Can divide it into sub-paragraphs; breaking the body facilitates comprehension for the reader
Use simple and clear language
Explain the graph/diagram in detail
Highlight the comparisons and variations observed using appropriate words
If mentioning numbers and figures, their accuracy must be ensured
The sentences should be rationally framed and connected… Words for increasing trend.. : rapidly doubled, sky rocketed, peaked, be on March…. Words for decreasing trend.. :plumm, fluctuate, starting to fall, dropped down, down swing….. Words for equal trend.. :levelled off, same, stagnated, concentrated

Conclusion
It should cover the entire summary of the given chart, graph, or diagram. This is the closing paragraph, so should be concluding in nature.

This bar graph flaunts division of household tasks by gender in great Britain. In total man spend just over two and a half hours on household tasks whereas women spend slightly less than four hours. Women spend more than twice as much time doing kitchen tasks such as cooking and washing up as men.. Women are also more active in cleaning up the house as it takes 58 minutes per day compared to with 13 minutes for men. And childcare, where women put in more than twice as much time as men.. On the other hand, men are more active in gardening and pet care, where thay spend twice as long as women and on maintenance they spend 15 minutes mare than women. Women take 25 minutes for washing and ironing clothes whereas men spend just 2 minutes on this task. Overall the figure show that women spend more time on routine domestic chores than men whereas men do more household maintenance, gardening and pet care.
